on the 11th of April 2022, I had the incredible opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation with Sadhguru, a spiritual leader and visionary who is admired by many. As an 18-year-old, it was both thrilling and nerve-wracking to pose an important question to him , one that has been weighing heavily on my mind: the lack of soil awareness in our education system.What made this moment even more significant is that I asked this question in front of thousands of people, both physically present and virtually connected. For years, I've been an avid viewer of Sadhguru's enlightening talks and discussions, never imagining that one day I would have the chance to interact with him directly. However, the significance of addressing the critical issue of soil consciousness prompted me to step forward and voice my concerns. Sadhguru's insightful responses and guidance shed light on the importance of reconnecting with the earth and fostering a deeper appreciation for the intricate web of life that soil supports. Our conversation served as a catalyst for raising awareness and igniting positive change in how we approach soil education in schools and communities worldwide. Isha speaks up about cultural heritage In a moment of passion and conviction, I took center stage at a significant event hosted by Societeit Tagore, where I voiced my concerns about the lack of awareness and preservation of Hindustani culture under the younger generation. Observing the audience, I couldn't help but speak up about a topic which wasn’t noticed enough: How will we deliver the essence of the Hindustani culture to the youth? As I am a hindustani youth by myself, I noticed profoundly that there is a shift happening in our Hindustani identity It became apparent that there was a pressing need to bridge the gap between the vibrant heritage and the contemporary generations who seemed somewhat disconnected from it. With unwavering determination, I articulated the importance of preserving Hindustani culture as a means of safeguarding our identity, heritage, and the invaluable lessons embedded in its history. As I spoke, I could sense a shift in the room – an awakening, perhaps, as the audience absorbed the significance of their role in safeguarding this cultural treasure. In that moment, at the heart of Societeit Tagore's event, my words became a catalyst for change, sparking a renewed sense of responsibility and appreciation for the rich tapestry of Hindustani culture. "Insights from a Vibrant Study Evening on the Surinamese-Hindustani Community in the Netherlands 🌐💬” I Had the honour of participating in a vibrant discussion on the Surinamese-Hindustani community in the Netherlands during a well-attended study afternoon organised by Jnan Adhin Instituut and Hindorama on December 3, 2023. The event marked the 150th anniversary of Hindustani immigration in Suriname, exploring the community's dynamics 50 years after the second migration to the Netherlands. The evening aimed to unravel the intricate threads of the Surinamese-Hindustani identity, cultural experiences, and the multifaceted social challenges faced by different generations. In my contribution, I emphasised during the discussion that young Hindustani individuals often face pressure from the Hindustani community regarding their academic pursuits. I highlighted the importance of recognising that pursuing various interests alongside studies contributes to holistic personal development. Each individual's journey is unique, and it's crucial to appreciate the value of diverse experiences in shaping a well-rounded identity. Key takeaways from the discussion revolved around the evolving Surinamese-Hindustani identity, cultural experiences, and the social challenges faced by different generations.
